We all need to be encouraged, to be told that we are beautiful and smart, and we know how to do great things. No matter how evolved and spiritual we may be, we need to be comforted from time to time. We need people who love us and we love to look at us with admiration and respect, not just waiting for hot food, clean shirts, paid bills, cleaned carpets, or repaired outlets. Let’s think about that when our partner has a new haircut that suits her, or starts a new project, the child gets a prize at school or his girlfriend gets a beautiful dress. Open your mouth and express your admiration, open your arms and hug. It’s not hard, you learn by practicing. For example, today I was able to see the sunrise. Don’t I look good, straight out of bed, ruffled and with puffy eyes? Good morning!
Consumerism is the prerogative of the modern age. Harari in Sapiens says that in the Middle Ages the rich displayed their riches and consumed their goods in vain, and the poor were temperate, ate frugally, and spent money carefully. Nowadays, the rich invest their money and eat healthy food in moderation, while the poor are in debt to buy luxury goods that they cannot afford and eat a lot and badly. We do not have the education of temperance and do not understand that modesty means material and spiritual wealth. We let ourselves be influenced by others and believe all sorts of nonsense that some tell us. We are manipulated with emotions and pieces of truth to believe and do what suits others. So we think we have power. The power of the flock driven on the edge of the abyss. “Look how appetizing this greasy burger sauce is!” “Look how unconscious your neighbor is who doesn’t do what I tell him!” And we buy the burger, and we swear at our neighbor. That must be true, they said on TV. Well, when do we have time to read a book or cook healthy? We are busy watching TV and looking in somebody else’s yard. If we had read a book, we would have understood that everything is passing. Everything changes. Nothing is nailed down. Neither the so-called “good” nor the so-called “bad”. A wave as the wave passes. The water passes, the stones remain. I wanted to write to you about a wonderful yellow lentil dish, but it remains for another time, I talked too much today. Good morning!
The factors that influence our health are: 27% genetic inheritance, 19% environment, 11% medical system, 43% lifestyle. We see that more than half of our health is our responsibility. We are responsible for eating properly, exercising, sleeping 7-9 hours a day, maintaining our optimal weight, being surrounded by people with whom we can have fulfilling relationships, and giving up unhealthy habits (smoking, alcohol), to have proper hygiene, to take care of our teeth (we do not go to the dentist only when our teeth hurt, but annually for a check-up and descaling, we wash twice a day), to learn to say “no” to others and “yes” to ourselves, to organize our environment and time so that everything I wrote above and many others related to our well-being to be a priority. Yes, we should be first busy with us, our health, because it depends on us. Genetic inheritance may be a given, but it is up to us not to get sick. And if we still get there, the doctors can help us, but it’s still up to us to keep the disease under control. 62%. Good morning!
Yesterday was Mental Health Day. Just because we are not in the records of a psychiatrist does not mean that we are mentally healthy. As psychologists say, we are not able to define how we feel. Most of us are always sad, irritated, angry, victimized, want to be somewhere else, or do something other than what we are doing at the moment. We are bad, resentful, vengeful, gloomy, frustrated, instead of helping our neighbor we hurt him. If we could stop for a moment, breathe and define in our minds what we feel, say to ourselves: now I am angry, or now I am sad because… and analyze a little that state, that emotion, maybe the next time we feel that way we will be able to better manage our reactions. And we will be able to adapt to external circumstances. Because we can’t stop the rain, we can’t change our partner to be more tidy or tender, we can’t stop the bad guy on the bus from talking loudly, but we can educate ourselves to be calm and serene, and from that state to take the most good decisions.
How about the next time we get angry we have a dialogue with ourselves: okay, I’m angry now. I let myself be angry for a minute, then I calm down and see what I can do. Good morning!
It is in human nature to choose the easiest way. In ankylosing spondylitis it is recommended to maintain optimal weight and daily exercise to relieve joint pain. But it’s easier to take an anti-inflammatory pill than to give up pretzels and donuts, do stretching exercises or walk a few miles.
We should have a diet consisting of 75% vegetables, preferably raw, but it is easier to make a pot of soup from which to eat for 5 days.
We should make sure we get our daily intake of vitamins and minerals from our diet, from the same raw vegetables, fish or grilled meat, fresh, but it’s easier to take an iron supplement than to grate a piece of raw beets and break a few leaves and make a salad. If we put a handful of parsley, we also have the necessary vitamin C that day. Good morning!
We are 8 billion people on this planet, it would be impossible and boring to think all the same and have the same values. I have long since ceased to categorize people as stupid and smart, good and bad, valuable or useless. We’re just people. I still find myself sometimes trying to tell someone what I did and it helped me. Then I slap myself on the back of my head. Who made me so smart to think I know better than that man what to do for himself? Probably it’s in the human nature to think we are better than others.
I left a fb group again after the moderator, a young and probably well-meaning girl, went out with the stick to the “parishioners” to threaten them that if they didn’t do what she said, she would kick them out of the group. I thanked her nicely and left it myself. It’s an effort to moderate a group, but that doesn’t give you the right to be a slave master, there are groups with thousands of members where the interaction takes place nicely and naturally, if you, as a moderator, accept that sometimes others may be right, not just you.
I wish you a nice day and don’t let anyone step on your head. But do not impose your opinions and values on others, everyone knows what is in their mind and soul and has the right to live as they wish. Good morning!
We are used to always eating the same foods, we are afraid to try new ingredients, to explore tastes and textures, new food combinations. If you eat a food too often you will develop intolerance to it, and if a doctor or a nutritionist tells you not to eat it for a while, you will panic: “Well, what should I eat then?!”. Does the world end with that food? We live in a time full of abundance of all kinds, including an abundance of information. Our ancestors thousands of years ago ate better and more varied than we did. If there was a shortage of food at one time, it was ok, there were others that could be eaten, they were not obsessed with coffee or pretzels. There are so many plants, herbs, spices, meat, organs, fruits that can be combined in so many ways that we shouldn’t even care that we can’t eat wheat or dairy anymore. Just allow ourselves to try, to play, to explore, to make mistakes, and then to succeed in discovering new tastes, new flavors, new foods to enjoy. What do you say, can you do that?
