BUCKWHEAT DONUTS

by Oana

Friday is meatless day for me, and since I’m an incurable carnivore (here, I admit it publicly) I’m constantly hungry. I’m like a grazer that always has to have something to chew on. So today I broke my no-deep-fry rule and threw some ingredients into a bowl, hoping with all my heart that some edible donuts would come out to put some carbs in my gut, maybe they’ll be able to calm things down there. To my surprise, the God of Hunger heard my prayer and out came some incredibly good donuts.

    Ingredients:

    • 200 ml of warm water
    • A bag of yeast 7 gr
    • An egg
    • One tablespoon of psyllium bran
    • One spoon of raw sugar
    • Flavors: vanilla, lemon
    • A pinch of salt
    • Buckwheat flour enough to make a dough that can be taken with a spoon, not very soft

    Method of preparation

    1

I mixed the water with the psyllium bran, left it for 5 minutes, then added the rest of the ingredients, last time I put the flour. I fried them in hot oil, pouring them with a teaspoon, I took them out on paper napkins to remove the excess oil. They didn’t absorb much oil, didn’t smoke, they behaved like civilized donuts invited to the table.
