MILLET BUNS, A MUST HAVE WHEN TRAVELING

by Oana

I don’t go crazy for bread, I rarely eat it, but when I leave home for a few days I make a tray of buns, which I carry with me in my backpack. I never know what I can eat on the road, especially when I go to unknown places. Sometimes I buy some sausages, or a tin of fish, or a jar of zacusca, and together with the buns, I’ve solved the situation, I don’t go on trips to waste time looking for places to eat, especially when I’m on a low budget trip. I make such trips for the soul, not for the stomach.

So today I kneaded the dough according to my recipe (soak 2 tablespoons of psyllium bran in 300 ml of warm water for a few minutes, then add a sachet of dry yeast, salt to taste and as much millet flour as possible. At the end, I put about a spoon of oil and knead a little more. I form the buns (9 pieces come out and put them on the baking paper in the tray) and let it rise while I made a hot bath with salt and lavender, then I threw them in the oven while I was packing. Constantza, watch out, I’m coming!
