DAMAGE DESERT

by Oana

I had that virus that haunts Bucharest. I feel like I’m among the world, it’s fashionable, everyone had it. So I layed in bed for 2 days, unable to lift my head from the pillow. On the third day, when I was able to sit on my bottom, supported by pillows, it seemed to me an extraordinary thing. And when I was able to gorge on some carrot soup and some rice with cheese, I shouted “victory!”. I mean I would have shouted, if I had had the strength to do so. Today I decided I could eat some baked chicken wings, so I looked with a raised left eyebrow, which is the ultimate sign of disdain for me, at some boiled rice sitting awkwardly in the fridge, and how I knew my dogs would raise their left eyebrow at it, I thought about how to recondition it. And I remembered that I have a recipe on the blog that turns a simple boiled rice into a delicious dessert. And since I also had some unfortunate retired apples somewhere, through a fruit bowl, I went to work. I cleaned the apples, 5 pieces in number, small, cut them into large pieces and boiled them in a cup of water with 5 spoons of sugar. At the end I put some rum and vanilla essence. Some cinnamon would have worked, but I didn’t have any. I put the rice in a yena bowl, poured the apples with all the juice on top, put some plums on top, put the lid on and put them in the oven. I left it on high heat for about 20 minutes, then I removed the lid and left it on low heat for another 30 minutes. It turned out a treat! Instantly I liked that rice and my eyebrow stayed in place.
