What do you do when you notice that you are not well, that your stomach, intestines, heart, joints, the whole body is not working properly? There are several options: you complain and cry for pity, you go to the doctor and wait for him to cure you, or you work hard and look for alternatives. Sometimes you only need a small change and you’re back to normal, other times you have to completely rethink your habits, addictions, diet, relationships, your whole life in order to feel good about yourself. You can start with the way you eat. To gradually eliminate foods that you know are bad for you (even if you don’t want to consciously admit it), unhealthy addictions (alcohol, smoking, being sedentary), to find ways to compensate that are not bad for you, to surround yourself with loving and optimistic people, get a cat and don’t consider it the end of the world if it doesn’t work out the first time.

I actually wanted to introduce you to a good dish, not to give you a lecture on healthy living, but that’s how it turned out. Good morning!

We have become accustomed to the intense tastes induced by flavor enhancers, the abuse of salt and strongly flavored spices, we have become accustomed to highly processed foods and we want more, more flavorful, saltier, hotter, more… more… We want our food to be made up of as many ingredients as possible, to have colors that should be part of a perfect painting, the steak to be seasoned with a mixture of 7 spices. And to be a lot. Many dishes for one meal, in large quantities. We no longer know how to appreciate a simple salad of seasonal herbs, we don’t even think that we could put raw spinach, orach or radish leaves in it. We want sophisticated sauces, it doesn’t even occur to us that we could put in a blender a bunch of dill, a bunch of parsley, two good handfuls of spinach, half a peeled lemon and a pinch of salt and make the tastiest sauce . It’s very good. Good morning!

Bone broth is very healthy and versatile, I make more at once and put them in the freezer in plastic bottles of different sizes. This way you can defrost a bottle and very easily you can combine vegetables in multiple ways and you always get a different creamy soup, a different taste, a different color. I just open the fridge, grab whatever vegetables I can get my hands on and in a few minutes I have a warm, tasty and nutritious soup. Now I grabbed a beet and some boring broccoli and as soon as you say “lunch” the soup was ready. Good morning!

When you have an autoimmune disease your gut is affected, there are studies, I didn’t make this up. When you have a damaged intestine and you keep attacking it with inappropriate food, coffee, alcohol, drugs, you cannot assimilate vitamins, minerals and other good things from food. And then it’s good to observe your body to know what’s good for you and what’s not. We are the same and yet different. Some feel good giving up meat, others legumes, some dairy, most gluten. We don’t all have to do the same, we have unique and individual operating mechanisms. And we don’t have to feel more important than others, to claim loud and clear that our method is the best. It’s only best for us if we’re lucky enough to find a way to improve our health through nutrition and general well-being.

In the picture you have my breakfast today: 2 cauliflower flat breads with guacamole, carrot, radishes, olives and arugula. Good morning!

When you decide to adopt a restrictive diet that you know will help you on your way to health and wellness, the first impediment is frustration, then comes withdrawal. We need to detoxify ourselves from coffee, sugar, processed products, and the body’s reaction is, keeping the proportions strict, the same as when giving up drugs. Headaches, lack of energy, slowness in movement and thinking, intestinal transit disorder, uncontrolled hunger. But all this passes in a few days. When I think about that time, it doesn’t seem so terrible anymore.

The second impediment could be the influence of the entourage. If you have family and friends who don’t understand what you’re up to with that diet, or worse, laugh at you or try to get you to quit, it means they don’t respect you and don’t trust your decisions. There is more to discuss here, because we surround ourselves with people like us, so we don’t have to convince them of the usefulness of our approach, but to be firm in our positions, to explain just once what we have proposed and what it helps us and move on with our lives, without letting ourselves be influenced. Of course, we don’t have to impose our restrictions on them either, but find viable alternatives for us.

In the picture you have my delicious smoothie of banana, strawberries, cinnamon and coconut oil, which sat last night on the table full of glasses of wine, beer and brandy, a happy table surrounded by good friends, who are with me no matter what decision I make, as I am with them. Friendship doesn’t mean doing like me, but supporting me in my endeavors, even if you don’t agree with me. Good morning!

What is more important to you, staying comfortable eating the same foods that make you sick, or venturing into the unknown with the belief that changing will make you feel good, look good, and look at the world with optimistic eyes? Good morning!
