Barbeque sauce
Previus post
We had a barbecue and wanted something special to go with it. I haven’t eaten meat with side dishes for a long time, I didn’t feel like making salad, so I thought of making a more special sauce. I haven’t touched commercial sauces for some time now, I make them myself. So I opened the fridge, took out the ingredients in the picture and started embroidering.
I roasted the bell pepper, chilies and tomatoes on the wood grill in the backyard at the same time as the steak, let them cool, then peeled them and put them through the blender. I also added salt (you don’t need much, it’s quite spicy and also has cucumbers) and olive oil and mixed until I got a fairly juicy paste. If I had been patient enough to let the tomatoes drain, a thicker paste would have come out, but I was very hungry, so I left them undrained. I tipped the contents into a bowl, added the finely chopped cucumbers and chopped dill, mixed and the sauce was ready. It went great with the steak, it’s spicy, sweet from the bell pepper, the cucumbers give it texture and a sour note, and the dill gives it flavor. I washed it all down with a glass of red wine. It was a perfect dinner!
